Established in 1964, Dunphy Combustion is family owned and managed. The company designs, manufactures, installs and maintains a wide range of combustion equipment, digital control solutions and turnkey prefabricated, packaged boiler houses. Our products and services are exported worldwide and the company has won several of the Queen’s Awards for Export and Innovation.
Our engineers have extensive international experience with fossil and bio fuel applications for heat and steam generation, CHP systems, district heating, waste to energy and wastewater treatment processes.
The central manufacturing complex in Rochdale comprises three main buildings which house production, research and development and equipment and fuel testing departments.
Dunphy is a licensed and approved BOAS training provider delivering courses on client sites or in our own purpose built Technology and Training Centre adjacent to our main factory in Rochdale.
The Centre has up to four bays allocated to different types of steam or hot water boilers so that trainees benefit from real hands-on instruction supplemented by formal classroom training in the theory and practice of safe and efficient operation of boilers and boiler controls.
Two qualifications are available – the Cert.IBO (Certified Industrial Boiler Operator) and the Dip.BOM (Diploma in Boiler Plant Management). Both qualifications are recognised by the Health & Safety Executive and SAfed. The BOAS course is recommended by BG01 ‘Guidance on the Safe Operation of Boilers’.
At the end of the four day course, Dunphy arranges formal external examination and independent assessment of participants by Kiwa GASTEC assessors.
The Combustion Engineering Association then reviews individual results and awards BOAS certificates.
Qualifications are valid for five years after which a refresher course is required. The course is designed for practising boiler house operatives and candidates must have a minimum of six months or 100 hours of verified practical boiler plant operation before taking the BOAS course and assessments.
