The UKDEA is supported by a number core staff and additional individuals. Together they help manage all of the UKDEA’s activities, from the day-to-day running of the association to our work on policy and with DESNZ. UKDEA Staff

Simon Woodward – Chairman & Technical Director

Simon is an independent consultant with 30-years experience developing district energy schemes. He is currently involved with developing 10 schemes across the UK and works part-time as the UKDEA Chairman. Until 2014 he was the CEO of the UK’s largest district energy company Cofely District Energy (now Bring Energy).

Andy Davey – CEO

Andy is an engineer by training and proud to have spent his career to date across  the public, private and charitable sectors delivering energy efficiency and environmental solutions. Over the last decade, he has been working on various aspects of heat decarbonisation, with a specialism in district energy. He is delighted to have just joined the UKDEA as CEO and looking forward to working with its members and stakeholders to deliver the market growth needed to achieve the country’s least cost path to net zero.

Tom Woodward – Association Secretary & Content Editor

Tom has been with the UKDEA since 2020 and is responsible for the day-to-day running of the Association. He manages memberships, produces the monthly journal that is sent out to members, organises all of the UKDEA’s online and in-person events, and much more.

Tim Starley-Grainger

Tim has represented the UKDEA on a number of different working groups as well as drafting multiple consultation responses, thanks to his knowledge and expertise on Future Homes Standard and Building Regulations.

Hamish McDonald

Hamish provides IT support for the UKDEA and more recently used his extensive knowledge of Metering and Billing to help draft the UKDEA’s response to the Consumer Regulation Consultation.

Dave Culver

Dave provides technical support to the UKDEA relating to design and standards including representing us on CP1 and HNTAS working groups.
