Introducing LAHFeN – Supported by the UKDEA

We are very aware that Local Authorities, in different ways, have a significant and leading role to play in the development of heat networks across the UK. To help you in this role, we are writing to advise of an exciting new initiative, which is a forum where local authorities can meet in a “safe space” with colleagues from across the UK to discuss issues and challenges relating to the creation of heat networks.

We are aware that there are many examples of good practice across the UK but also many challenges and this forum is being created to ensure this good practice is shared and can help to provide the ideas and tools to overcome these challenges. We would like to invite you the first of these forums which we are setting up as  the Local Authority Forum for Heat Networks (LAFHeN), which is intended to be LA run forum for LAs only

Due to the rapidly changing landscape in this sector no matter how far advanced a LA is, it is believed that there will be useful learning that can be gained by LA’s working together in such a Forum to discuss a wide range of issues affecting the Sector and LA’s in particular.
