Switch2 Energy Limited has over 25 years of experience working in partnership with Local Authorities, Housing Associations, Registered Social Landlords (RSL) and Private Operators, on some of the most innovative, largest and efficient communal, district and mixed use heating schemes across the UK.

We offer a fully bespoke service where we proactively assist clients and their customers in ensuring the long-term success of a scheme from the conception of the development. This comprehensive, full circle, service is designed to deliver the cost-effective, carbon-reducing, reliability and customer-satisfaction goals of any scheme, over its entire life.

Currently we generate approximately 20 million data transactions per year, 8,500 energy bills per month and provide maintenance services to more than 50,000 dwellings across 435 district and communal energy systems in the UK. Of these, around 25,000 homes are connected to Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) systems.

Our focus on delivering the most cutting-edge products and services across the entire value chain of a district heating scheme, means we offer products and services that are simply second to none. This range of services can cover the energy centre and all connected domestic and commercial units.

Scheme Design, Validation and Modelling

Our extensive expertise and dedicated Technical Team, as well as access to over 15 years of historical consumption and system demand data from across the UK, means that ENER-G Switch2 is able to set ourselves apart and is qualified to be able to systematically assess and provide valuable commentary on system design. This service ensures the viability of a system design to meet customer demand and remain optimally efficient throughout its life.

Switch2 Energy Limited is also able to assist in the initial system design and work alongside consulting engineers to provide advice and support, taking account of the particular needs and goals of the development.

Switch2 Energy Limited understands the need to ensure the long-term financial viability and cost effectiveness of communal and district heating schemes. We offer a financial modelling service that assesses the particular scheme design in operation to enable the calculation of tariffs, necessary sinking funds, maintenance and pumping costs, as well as enabling correct budgeting for the scheme.

Scheme Set-up and Hardware Supply

Switch2 is a market leader in the supply of products specifically designed for use on communal heating schemes. This extensive product portfolio includes;

  • Consumer Interface Units – these can be selected or adapted to meet the specific requirements of the system in operation
  • Metering Solutions – a full range of meters can be provided, covering all supplies such as heat, domestic hot water, cold water, electricity and gas for both domestic and commercial use. All meters are able to function as part of an Automatic Meter Reading system, to ensure comprehensive energy consumption monitoring and the accurate billing of consumers connected to the scheme
  • Automatic Meter Reading Systems (AMR) – we have a number of ‘hard-wired’ and ‘wire-less’ AMR systems available, suitable for both new build and retrofits applications
  • Prepayment Systems – Switch2 offers some of the most innovative and customer-centred prepayment solutions currently available. These offer a number of revenue protection benefits, as well as assisting customers in budgeting for their energy use.

All our products are supported by a full commissioning service in order to provide the reassurance that the system is set-up correctly and operating in accordance with the design brief and as envisaged During 2011 alone ENER-G Swicth2 engineers commissioned equipment supplied for over 7000 properties!

Operator and Scheme Services

Switch2 provides a number of operator and scheme services to provide a long-term solution and on-going support. We currently maintain or provide consumer support for 50,000 properties across the UK and in 2011 alone we made 45,000 visits to properties.

This range of services includes Contract Energy Management (CEM) and ESCo services to support the entire communal heating or district energy scheme.

Switch2 offers a range of metering, prepayment and data collection strategies, which are key to the success or failure of managing energy schemes, be it for residential, commercial, or mixed use developments. Automatic meter reading systems enable timely production of consumer bills and, ultimately, assist scheme cash flow. Consumption data is collected, cleansed and verified and exceptions reported, as well as issuing monthly or quarterly bills to all types of consumers.

Services provided by Switch2 include a cash collection process for bill payment and credit control process to ensure financial optimisation of the scheme. These services can be undertaken on behalf of landlords, scheme operators, or developers, who may wish to receive a long term income from their initial capital investment.

Our online account management system gives our Clients access to consumption and account data, with analytical tools for monitoring and targeting, which is critical in reducing energy and carbon.
